
Multicultural Finland association was established in the year 2001. In the autumn of 2004, the association became a registered association as a member of the Swedish people’s party. The aim of the association is to create different platforms and activities related to multiculturalism by giving the foreign citizens adequate opportunity for becoming a member of the Finnish society. The association also aims to improve the integration of immigrants by given information on how to get services made by the Finnish state for immigrants through the association’s webpage and the brochure that states the aims of the association.
Multicultural Finland association consists of 15 board members who are from different cultural backgrounds but they are in a similar professional field that involves in multicultural work. The board members are in charge of the association’s events and activities. The association has the Laurea University of applied sciences, Luckan (The Swedish-Finnish cultural and information centre) and SELMA as its cooperation partners. The association organizes seminars such as interactive seminars; the aim of the seminar was to discuss the betterment of immigrant’s integration in Finland. Similar seminars and activities with association’s members are in plan for the future. The group also organizes cultural happenings and meetings with its members.
The working languages of the association are English and Swedish language. Among the associations various accomplishments are: the resolution that the group prepared for the Party Congress of Swedish People's Party in Pietarsaari in the year 2002 and a political program titled "Initiative for Integration" organized in 2003. In the future, Multicultural Finland r.f. intends to create different platforms and activities related to multiculturalism in Finland.
